Pui Pui Entry 14

Before we begin tonights journey, I have to mention uvw mapping his tights real quick. I showed bits-n-pieces of uvw mapping most parts of Pui Pui, but I have neglected talking about his tights.

I did slap some uvw mapping on his tights, but they don't really matter. The only reason I did put mapping on his tights was because they were slowing down my poor little 'puter when I went to do certain things. The uvw on his tights don't matter because they are getting a procedural material, and procedural textures are indepent of uvw. Basically, I don't have to uvw map his tights because of how procedural materials work (but I did do some because of my poor little 'puter).

Back to finishing up the Physique process.

In his hands, some verts were out of his finger envelopes. That means they get left behind when the hand moves. Tweak the envelop, and the vert behaves.

Some nastiness going on with this biceps as well. Tweak the envelopes, and they behave as well.

Now for the tough part. I'm going to attempt to explain the unknown problem that I was having, and I'm going to attempt to do it with the forearm and wrist.

1. This is the parts at rest. Nice and straight.

2. When I bend his hand, the forearm bows outward. This is the same behavior I was getting in the leg when I bent the foot.

3. Continuous is turned off and all is well. See? Nice and straight again.

4. Lame attempt at showing the different between Continuous being on and and Continuous being off. With Continuous on, the two path segments arc. With Continuous off, both segments are straight lines.

Now, the whole leg had Continuous turned on. So, if I bent the foot, the shin would arc, thus making the femur arc as well. When I moved the foot, verts all the way just beyond the knee would also move. Turn Continuous off and it's mission accomplished.

Got some nasty problems with his leg were it meets his hip. All sorts of nastiness.

Problem is, I'm not quite experienced enough to totally fix that. All I can do is minimize the "effect" as best as I can and bite the bullet.

I also painted some real quick textures. Nothing fancy by any means.

Up next:
Pui Pui's face!
Man, talk about a mess.
