Pui Pui Entry 13
No, I haven't forgetten about this. Far from it.
Yes, I have been working like a mad dog on it.
I kind of lied when I said that the coming problems weren't as bad as
doing all that manual vert work again. This is pretty much as bad. Maybe
even worse.
I was getting some really weird deforming. For example, when I moved
the foot, his calf and quads would move. And that's just plain not suppost
to happen. Really ugly.
So, why is this worse than doing verts manually? Because vert work can
be done again, but my recent problem was inexperience. I can't just fix
something when I don't know the how's and why's of things. The detective
work can be substantial (in this case, several days).
On the up-side, now that I have it figured out, I won't forget any time
soon. Know what I mean?
At first I thought the problem was with the envelopes. But the envelopes
weren't big enough to deform verts that were deforming. That is, the foot
envelope wasn't all the way up and leg and over the knee. So playing with
envelopes didn't do me any good.
The problem wasn't with manually assigning the verts, either. Or assigning
the vert weights manually. Time to start banging my head.
Now, Physique has something called Bulge. This is a special behavior
to simulate biceps and things. So I started getting cozy with Bulge. Too
bad it was getting me no where. Same funky behavior in and above the knee
when I move the foot. Banging my head even harder.
About an hour ago I *finally* figured out was was wrong. In Physique,
there is a sub-element called Link. So I started playing with that. Bingo!
All I had to do was play with Continuity (on/off), Tension, and Bias attributes.
Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.
With the holiday almost here, I'm not sure when I'll get some caps up
showing some of the junk that I'm talking about.
Back to the grind.
