Dots and Distance

This is yet another thing that I am apprehensive about talking about. When I got to thinking about these things, I got confused. When I quit thinking about it, it made sense again. So then I thought about it some more and sorted it all out.

This is one of my great mistakes, and I hope you don't make it after I point it out.

Back to these two graphics. The target graphic and one Displaced to grab the white dot in the lower-right.

--

In the first examples, the white dots in the coloured circles were grabbed. Just so you know, it's a distance of 50px to those white circles. Then, when we started using diagonal Grabitude with the same percentages, the other white dots were grabbed. Why is that?

-Basically because distance of Grabitude is measured in x and y separately - not rho (angle) and theta (distance).

Consider this:

Horizontal 39% and Vertical 0% grabs 50px horizontally.

Horizontal 39% and Vertical 39% grabs 50px horizontally and 50px vertically (which has a theta of 70px).

Horizontal and Vertical are separate calculations. That's why the white dot was grabbed and not the black circle.

I hope I didn't just give you my problems by talking about my problems. Talk about counter-productive. Fancy that. However, I did feel it worthy of mention. Best of luck to you.
